Make a long page easier to read with TalkBack
When a page is long, moving through every item can take time. TalkBack reading controls let you change what an up or down swipe moves through: characters, words, lines, paragraphs, headings, links, and more. The available controls can vary with the app and your settings.
Choose what to move by
On devices with multi-finger gestures, swipe left or right with three fingers to cycle through reading controls until you hear the one you want. On devices without those gestures, Google lists a one-finger up-then-down or down-then-up gesture. Once you have chosen a control, swipe down with one finger to move forward or up to move back.
Try "Headings" to skim a properly structured article. Try "Links" to find its sources. Use "Words" or "Characters" to check a name or unfamiliar term. If TalkBack does not find headings, the page or document may not expose them as headings; that is not your fault.
When reading aloud stops or skips
Open the TalkBack menu and try "Read from focused item" for continuous reading. You can also use "Screen search" to find a word on the current screen. These controls help with accessible text, but cannot by themselves turn an image-only PDF into readable text. See why some PDFs do not read aloud for the difference.
